Accreditation

ISSH is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). This means that our school is recognised by not one but two independent bodies of educations for our commitment to our mission, our high-quality learning and teaching, our focus on well-being, and our dedication to ongoing self-improvement. We are reevaluated regularly to ensure that we maintain our high level of commitment to these best practices, and receive detailed feedback in order to continuously improve.

Schools accredited by CIS, often considered the gold standard for international schools, are required to meet the "Driving Ideals" of international education, including:

  • Mission-driven and Vision-led
  • Heavily focused on student learning and well-being
  • Committed to internationalism/interculturalism to foster global citizenship

Accreditation is one way in which schools can prove, via external accrediting bodies, that they are trustworthy, safe, and reliable. It is a type of certification that allows students, families, colleges and universities, faculty and staff, and the greater community to have confidence that our school provides a high-quality for learning and growing. It shows that independent reviewers have found that our schools programming is effective, that our school is run responsibly, and that graduates are prepared for tertiary education. The required self-study process also ensures that teachers, administrators, and the whole school community are consistently thinking deeply about what the school does well, why we make the choices we do around curriculum and programming, and how we can improve.

CIS

CIS leads a collaborative global membership community of schools and higher education institutions, exploring and developing effective practises to foster healthy, interculturally competent global citizens. The CIS community includes more than 1,580 schools and universities, representing 121 countries around the world.
