Never Too Old to Love Reading: Middle School Students Participate in Book Character Day as Reading Buddies

By Miranda Liu
Book Character Day isn't only about dressing up as a favourite book character—it's about celebrating our love of books and reading as a community. Our Grade 8 students really took this goal to heart by serving as reading buddies, reading age-appropriate storybooks to our younger students after the parade finished!

The Kindergarters and younger Junior School students absolutely loved hearing the stories—but they weren't the only ones! The Middle School students also had a blast reminiscing about the stories they once loved when they were younger, as well as reflecting on becoming the "big sister" role they once looked up to. Middle School Principal Mrs. Wilson summed it up effectively, remarking, "As these photos indicate, it was clear that both our younger and older students thoroughly enjoyed this activity, and I believe we have some excellent storytellers and budding teachers amongst our Grade 8 students." Well done, Grade 8s! |
