Parents

We understand that moving to a new country is difficult for parents too. One of the best things about ISSH is how easy it is to get involved with the community. Whether you've just moved to Tokyo or are a long-time resident, there will be a place for you to meet new faces, volunteer and share your skills.
Volunteering opportunities for parents come in all shapes and sizes. From organising a big event like Family Festival as a committee chair in our Parents Association to serving on our Parent Advisory Committee and using your insights, communication, and organisational skills to help Sacred Heart grow, there are roles for every personality and every level of time commitment. Come get involved!

Parents Association
The Parents' Association is a volunteer group that builds community through organising social and charitable events for Sacred Heart families. Board members coordinate the Family Festival, the Bingo Night, the Christmas Party and many additional events that are listed below. The Parents’ Association supports the school and family community at the International School of the Sacred Heart throughout the year by sponsoring various school improvements, monthly uniform sales, educational workshops, charitable donations, and a student scholarship fund.
Examples of events that take place at the school include:
- College Talk with alumni panelists
- Break the Ice party
- Bingo Night
- Family Festival
- Kimono photo session
- Teachers and Staff Appreciation Lunch
-
Parents’ Association Social Events (several events during the year)
Anyone interested in getting involved in Parents’ Association activities can simply come to one of the meetings which are open to all parents. All are welcome!

Homeroom Parents
In the Kindergarten and Junior School, Homeroom Parents play an important part in the lives of students, families and teachers at Sacred Heart. There are two homeroom parents for each classroom. The parents work closely with their homeroom teachers and other homeroom parents.
The role of the homeroom parent is to assist the teachers in organising volunteers for activities during the school year. They help plan the Christmas and the End-of-Year parties, organise the grade level Family Festival game booths, and facilitate the Parents' Coffee in September and January.
The ideas and suggestions received from our parents are invaluable to our school.
