E-Learning Update (April 1, 2020)

Dear Parents and Students,

This is a very difficult email for me to write as I know how much everyone has been looking forward to our students returning to campus. Taking into consideration the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Japan over the past few days and looking at trends in other countries, the Administration team have decided to extend e-learning indefinitely with the earliest possible return date being Tuesday, May 5th. This has been a challenging decision for us to make but our priority is always the well-being of our community. Please be reassured that even though our campus is closed our school is open for learning. High quality synchronous online learning will continue to be offered. As soon as it becomes safe and viable we look forward to returning to normal operations on campus.

Although all of our students will be feeling a sense of loss and anxiety, the administration, faculty and staff are here to support them. I want to recognize the Class of 2020 who will be impacted most by this decision. Ms. Young, the HS Principal, will be in touch with them tomorrow to plan for a meaningful end to their time at Sacred Heart.

I recognize that students miss the extra-curricular activities that take place on campus and hope they will look forward to them with anticipation once they can be resumed.

We will continue to do our utmost to support all of our students and parents, as well as seek feedback from our community to enable us to continue to adapt and improve.

I thank you for your ongoing support.

Sincerely,
Yvonne Hayes
