STEM and Public Speaking

With courage and confidence, Sacred Heart girls engage in STEM and other academic pursuits outside of the curriculum—whether engineering robots to compete in VEX leagues or engaging with world issues through Model United Nations, ISSH provides rich programming to allow students to pursue their academic passions.

STEM and other academic extracurriculars run the full range of activities, from competitive teams that take on other international schools in leagues and tournaments to clubs designed to develop skills and expand knowledge. Industry and special interest clubs allow students to dig deeper into their interests and meet friends who share the same passions, whether chess, investing, or medicine. From Kindergarten through graduation, Sacred Heart students have the opportunity to pursue their passions in STEM, public speaking, world languages, and much more.

Middle and High School STEM Activities

Opportunities abound for students who are fascinated by science and mathematics knowledge, or thrive on the challenge of engineering and technology. Both middle and high school are home to competitive VEX robotics, Brain Bowl, and Math Field Day teams. These teams compete against and collaborate with other international schools in the Tokyo area, giving students the opportunity to make new friends and learn from others interested in the same topics. In middle school, non-competitive clubs such as Math Problem-Solving Club and Space Club allow girls to dig into topics they enjoy and meet friends with similar interests.

Middle and High School Public Speaking Activities

ISSH offers a variety of competitive public speaking activities, such as Debate and Model United Nations in high school and Speech Festival in both middle and high school. Students compete against other international schools in the Tokyo area, giving them the opportunity to meet new people and develop not only their skills but also their confidence.

Middle and High School Student Publications

Our middle and high school student publications showcase the best of Sacred Heart student journalism! Middle school students develop a strong foundation of journalism, research, and writing skills while sharing relevant and age-appropriate articles of interest with the community through their publication, The Student Outlook. Meanwhile, our high school writers for The International dig into meaningful world issues, share thoughtful opinions, and report on relevant topics to the Sacred Heart community, frequently winning awards for their communication skill and journalistic integrity! Check out both publications below:

High School Industry Clubs
